Biblical Worldview in the Grammar School

As teachers, we have the most significant responsibility and privilege to present everything we teach from a biblical worldview. The Psalms teach us that praise should constantly be on our lips, and our hearts long to sing praise to God. The question is:
- How do we teach our children how to add and subtract
- How to blend sounds to create words
- How to correctly label the parts of a fish or a bird
- Or how to construct proper sentences
- while teaching them about the Creator?
In the end, it is essential to note that it is not enough to include one or two verses from the Bible in a lesson or project and declare that one has taught from a “biblical worldview.” At our daycares in Corpus Christi TX, we point out God’s attributes as seen in His creation, observe the effects of sin in the world, and train our students always to seek truth, goodness, and beauty.
Each day in lower school, students are trained to embrace a biblical worldview with a catechism. However, this same catechism can also be used to see how our teaching is infused with our biblical worldview.
History: What is it?
History shows how God has guarded, purified, and strengthened his undeserving people by working all things together for His glory.
What are the benefits of learning history?
We must learn history to remember that God will also protect, cleanse, and strengthen us.
Studying history enables us to see how seemingly unrelated events fit into a complex, interconnected timeline that is part of a larger plan orchestrated by a sovereign God. Throughout history, “random” weather events have altered fates. Our time allows us to look back at other eras of history and see that all things work towards good. We can see how rulers, even evil ones, set up their will from our perspective.
Science: What is it?
God’s work in creation is discovered and understood through science.
What are the benefits of learning science?
The purpose of learning science is to see the wonders of God’s creation and acknowledge that the whole earth reflects the glory of God.
As we explore the fantastic creations of the great Creator, science naturally fills us with wonder and curiosity. At preschool Corpus Christi, our students love it when we point out all the ways man has studied God’s creation to become creators. We learn to fly when we look at the flying creatures of God. We learn about insulation by studying animal habitats. We know how to make suits that help us swim and dive more efficiently because we look at the animals that live in the water. It is impossible to list everything we have created. Everything we do is a result of studying the handiwork of our Creator.
Why is spelling so necessary?
Grammar and spelling are essential to God because He delights in order and the correct use of the tongue.
What makes us learn to read and write well?
We learn to read and write well as God has created the written word, and He has placed the secret of salvation in a written story.
As we read, we learn for evidence of truth and goodness and sin and its consequences. We can evaluate analyse using biblical principles. We can observe the beauty of language and the power of storytelling. Also, students love looking up references and reading straight from the Bible. This makes their connection with whatever we are reading in class. By this, they can clearly say what they have learned about God because they have learned to spell and write well.
Final Verdict
At daycares in Corpus Christi TX, every day, in every subject, we strive to provide a good classical education founded upon a biblical worldview. It is a joy, honor, and a privilege to be a part of such beautiful work.
